Introduction
Lynn Grove is a Voluntary Aided High School with a Christian Foundation.
Therefore the school values highly the spiritual and moral dimension brought to the curriculum via RE and the moral education that all other subject contribute to wittingly or otherwise.
In accordance with the law all students follow RE ( the local agreed Syllabus FOR Norfolk), at both KS3 and KS4.
In years 8/9 students study roots, festivals, and teaching of the Christian faith and also those of Judaism. Students also follow units on Islam and Buddhism.
Representatives of all major Christian denotations contribute to the Christianity Representative from Judaism and Islam also feature when appropriate.
Students in year 9 make an annual visit to London to see, St Paul's Cathedral in February of each year. The school enjoys a close working relationship with the education team at St Paul's, the guide being staunch Norwich City Supporter!
RSE in Years 10/11
Given the Schools VA status to all students follow a GCSE (AQA Syllabus B Units 2/4) in Religious studies with a bias towards understanding moral issues and the importance of values in the life of all humans.
Topics Areas to be covered Are:
Students achieve well in this subject are given a shorter allocation of curriculum time.
Each year in October Year 11 students visit the House of Parliament.
The MP for Great Yarmouth always meets the group to talk about his beliefs and to allow students the time to ask questions.
Citizenship in Years 10/11
This new subject area - (2003 onwards) aims to educate young people towards an understanding of the responsibilities and rights in our society.

Careers work in years 10/11
Careers and PSE in years 10/11 take place in RSE Lessons
Year 10
Work Experience preparation in summer term, Featuring a huge careers and work experience revue to include drama, interviews with college principals and a fashion show (how to dress for work).
Work Experience is taken place at the End of June.
Careers Lesson on the world of work to include a preparation for opportunities conference in which students dress appropriately for interviews and develop a CV for forth coming interviews.
Groups of students without experience of University attendance in their family have been taken to Oxford University and UEA for aspiration days in the past.
Year 11
Careers lesson and parents evening during November to include visits to colleges for year 12/13 courses.
In addition Connexions service advisors regularly interview individual students on the choices ahead of them.
At the end of the unit, students are assisted in the completion of application forms for future courses and a destination exercise undertaken.
Students at Lynn Grove High School opt in much larger numbers than local average to go onto further Education and training courses.
