A group of 21 students from years 8 & 9 visited York in Maine, New England from June 2nd - June 9th. The group leader was Stuart King, Careers and Citizenship Co-ordinator at Lynn Grove, and accompanying him was Judy Blyth, also from the school, and PC Ron Chadwick from the Great Yarmouth Police.

Awarded Training School Status

Lynn Grove High School has been awarded training school status by the Department for Education and Skills.

This means that we will be given four years to develop, promote and spread good teacher training practices across Norfolk.

We were one of 76 more schools awarded the status, bringing the total of teacher training schools across the country to 244.

Charles Clarke, education secretary and MP for Norwich South, said: "Across the country training schools are sharing ideas and best practice with their colleagues, encouraging other schools to become involved in initial teacher training and raising standards for the future. More than 12,000 more people are starting school and college-based teacher training courses this year than in 1999/2000 and applications for training next year are buoyant. There was considerable interest from schools wishing to become training schools and I would like to congratulate these schools on getting that award."

The direct line telephone number for The Training School is: 01493 660247

Partnership with Thailand

Partnership with Thailand

Funding has already been secured from external sources for the initial phase of the project. In the first instance personal contact will be made by two members of the Lynn Grove staff with schools in Thailand to establish the feasibility of setting up links. The purpose of the visit will also be to match the aspirations of the Thai schools with those of our school to ensure a true partnership. The second phase will involve development of the partnership through ICT as well as visits from staff and pupils of the schools in the partnership.

The project should develop as an ongoing and integral part of the curriculum as well as impacting in the wider local community.
