"IT's a Challenge" Day
Congratulations are due to the two teams of Year 10 students who took part in the event held at Great Yarmouth College on Tuesday, 21st June. The students involved were: Chris Jennings, Lewis Hak, Sophie Baker, Ellis King, Jennifer Lee, Lewis Newson, Joshua Leak, Ben Grey, Lewis Fleming and Claire Keyzor.
The "IT's a Challenge day" is a new project set up by the Norfolk Centre of Vocational Excellence [CoVE]. The projects aim is to encourage young people into the IT industry and give them an opportunity to talk to experts in the field.
Lynn Grove entered this event for the first time this year, and one of the two teams taking part won first prize; MP3 players for each team member.
Competing against five other schools from around the area, the teams were asked to design and build a website for a fictitious company, focusing on eco-friendly vehicles. In addition to the excellent facilities available at Great Yarmouth College, the students could question experts from the IT industry who were on hand throughout the day.

The tasks were both challenging and educational, concluding with the teams giving group presentations to all of the schools and staff present.

A minor technical hitch did not deter one of the Lynn Grove teams when their presentation wouldn't work. They continued on without the aid of the electronic display, instead using the handouts that they had prepared. In their final summary, they described their company 'LG Motors' as creative.

The winning team 'Velocita' derived their name from the Italian word for speed. As with the other groups, they had assigned job roles within the team to handle the different sections to be produced. Instead of using existing car designs, they designed their own using the full range of resources available to them. They summed up their company as imaginative.

All of the days work will soon be available via the Norfolk CoVE website.

JANUARY 2005
07/02/2005 - The Curriculum choice booklet and choice form 2005 can now be downloaded from the Curriculum Areas page.
The year started off very well with the report that Lynn Grove High School still leads the local schools' league table with 63% of pupils gaining good GCSEs.
We have also been included in Ofsted's recently launched list of consistently high achieving schools. Chief Inspector, David Bell, said the honours list was in recognition of the high quality of education provided.
Following the successful visit to Thailand by headteacher, David Evans, and Science teacher, Sarah Calne, in July 2004, two Thai teachers of English will be arriving at the school in April.
Like everyone, the Tsunami disaster affected us deeply and staff and pupils alike have joined together to raise money for the disaster fund. Various events are planned. In the short term there will a book and cake sale followed by a sports competition and a concert featuring numerous staff and students (dates for these are still to be arranged).
We say a farewell to Judy Blyth, our Systems Administrator, who has been at the school for a number of years, formerly working in the administration office. We all wish Judy every success in her new job. Good luck!
