Norfolk Police PACT - WHAM project 2006

A little while ago four of our Year 11 students, Hannah Wicks, Matthew Bridge, Sophie Baker and Elliot Green, signed up to take part in the Norfolk Police PACT - WHAM project, competition.

The competition is for a group of young people under 16 years to develop a project aimed at making a difference in their community. Our group, who call themselves Fuoco Quattro (Italian for Fire Four) chose the theme of Fire Safety.

So far the team has successfully produced a power point presentation, which they have presented to elderly residents in sheltered housing at Cherry Lane, Gorleston, and at the Annual Governors' Meeting of Age Concern in Great Yarmouth. They have also produced a leaflet which has been distributed whitin the local community. In addition the students have done a radio presentation at Radio Broadland, have been interviewed by local media and have produced a website.

From amongst 80 entries our team made it to the final four . The winners will be announced on Friday, 14th July 2006. Well done, and good luck.

Press Release: A Building Programme for Lynn Grove VA High School

In order to accommodate Year 7 pupils after the reorganisation of schools in the Great Yarmouth area in 2008, the Governors of Lynn Grove High School, working with the Local Authority, have recently submitted a planning application for additions and modifications to their buildings. The project will involve the conversion of four existing classrooms into two laboratories, an electronics room and a home economics room, whilst the present library will be turned into two smaller rooms. Additionally, a new learning resource centre will be created together with eight new classrooms, a video conferencing suite, a little more office accommodation and an enlargement to the existing staffroom.

Below are two images that give an outline of the proposed building plans. Any stakeholders interested in seeing the more detailed plans are invited to contact the school on 01493 661406 in order that arrangements for viewing may take place.
