Placements in school

ITT students from these providers spend time in Lynn Grove with trained subject mentors working in the classroom as well as experiencing the other aspects of school life. As students in the training school they have access to all the training school facilities including learning resources, ICT and the in house professional development programme.

These cluster mentors support and assess ITT students in placements in other schools across Norfolk.

Recruitment

The Lynn Grove training school is involved in the recruitment process for the Suffolk and Norfolk DRB. We interview prospective GTP and SCITT students for places on these training programmes.

The Induction course for teaching assistants is for recently or newly appointed staff and offers candidates the opportunity to gain some necessary background knowledge to help and fully support teachers, pupils and the school. The course covers important information about roles and context, behaviour management and inclusion, curriculum support including numeracy and literacy.

Training is delivered over four days and the current dates at Lynn Grove are as follows:
25th September, 16th October, 13th November, 4th December 2008

Working in Schools Information Days

The Training school is proactive in informing the public about opportunities for careers in schools. Anyone who would like information/advice should contact the Training School office either by telephone on 01493 660247 or by email

Careers in Schools Evenings for Support Staff are held at the school to inform people who would like to work in a school in a support capacity of the many opportunities now available in modern schools and to inform people already working in a support capacity of the professional development opportunities available to them.

‘Taste of teaching’ Evenings to provide information to those interested in a career in teaching are also held at the school. These evenings are held as part of a rolling programme with our partner training schools, Notre Dame High School and Aylsham High School. Representatives from the local ITT providers attend these evenings and there are formal talks and stands giving people the opportunity to speak individually with the providers. Teachers who have recently trained under different schemes are also available to talk about their experiences.

Open Schools Days

Working with the TDA, for those who would like to experience a day in school as a prelude to applying for an ITT course, we provide a programme over the course of a day of lesson observations and discussions with teachers and other staff. If you would like to find out more visit the TDA website

Working With Other Training Schools

We have strong links with the other training schools in Norfolk, Notre Dame high school training school and Aylsham High school training school

As training schools we meet regularly:

  • to develop training programmes which can be jointly delivered
  • to plan / liaise with regard to Open Evenings held at each school
  • to moderate and thus ensure that the quality of training is of a high standard
  • to work together with the Norfolk and Suffolk DRB
  • to liaise on our training programmes for dates and content, so that we can ensure that we reach across the county to provide access to training for all
