IntroductionThe Science department has 9 well equipped laboratories, two of which were completed in September 2008. There are 9 teachers, 1 curriculum support worker and 2 technicians. The aim of the department is to provide all pupils with a good grasp of scientific principles so that they can make informed decisions about their role in conservation, energy use and changes within their own bodies. We also aim to equip tomorrow’s scientists with the skills and knowledge to study science further at college and university so that they may be part of new scientific and technological developments in areas such as medicine, engineering and the energy industry. We aim to provide students with skills that can be transferred into any sector of work for example working with data and sources, conducting independent research, using specialist equipment. More importantly, we strive to help pupils to develop an enquiring mind so that they are able to ask questions about the world around them. |
