Welcome to the MFL department.
At Lynn Grove all pupils have the opportunity to study at least one foreign language. We currently offer French and German. The department has excellent facilities including a digital language laboratory equipped with 14 computers that all our classes use regularly. In recent years we have invested heavily in a range of software applications to enhance pupil learning.
As a result of studying a foreign language pupils will:
- develop a deeper understanding of how language works,
- develop a deeper understanding of how their own language works,
- develop their reading skills,
- develop transferable language learning skills,
- understand how to take responsibility for their own learning,
- develop study skills,
- develop an understanding of the culture of the target language country,
- broaden their horizons,
- develop self-confidence,
- develop their communication skills in the broadest sense,
- have the confidence to express themselves in the target language
