Lynn Grove Participates in Shine Week Print

Every youngster has a talent and all they need is a chance to let it shine!

Whether it’s success in sport, the arts, technology or working in the community, the pupils of Lynn Grove joined millions of others in a nationwide talent showcase called Shine Week. The festival, which ran in July, aimed to shine a light on the unique achievements of thousands of youngsters from across the county. The week of celebrations kicked off nationally with youngsters from across the country taking part in a rooftop street dance on the south bank of the Thames as part of a new music video, and symbolising Shine bursting out of the classroom and on to the streets in 2009.

All departments within Lynn Grove embraced Shine Week and organised activities and opportunities to develop skills and talents as well as to celebrate the achievements of our pupils. This was a great platform to showcase pupils’ abilities and efforts.

During the week, pupils' talents were encouraged to 'shine' through a number of activities such as film making, performing in a rock band, participating in scientific investigations, engaging in team building actvities and entrepreneurship opportunities, role playing and designing and making products. Over the course of the week every pupil had the chance to exude their own special spark; something that makes them unique and something that definitely enriches our school and its local community. The week was all about recognising this individuality and showing our young people that every talent, no matter how small it may seem, is something worth celebrating.
