Additional Information Print

The LRC has a great range of periodicals providing information on subjects as diverse as art, warhammer, food, nature, science, sports, cars, music and technology. We also receive The Times, The Guardian, The EDP and The Mercury daily newspapers. We’ve made it easy for you to find fiction by categorizing our books according to a coloured sticky label at the bottom of the spine. These are shelved alphabetically and marked with the first initial of the Author’s surname. (See the guide to the LRC's fiction labelling system). Pupils new to the school have LRC induction classes where LRC staff explain the simple rules. They are shown how to use the LRC in order that they feel comfortable with what is expected of them. This has proved to be a successful way to encourage pupils to use the facility.

The LRC rules are simple and practical:

  • No noise
  • No bags
  • No eating
  • Respect body space distance of other pupils
  • No touching other pupils work
  • Computers are for research, not for playing games
  • No more than two pupils per computer
  • Neat uniform is expected at all times

Some new pupils may like to apply to be librarians to help tidy and issue the books at break and lunchtimes. This can be a rewarding occupation and it looks great on a CV.

The LRC staff look forward to introducing you to this new facility.
