 Mr Derek Houghton
I have been connected with Lynn Grove High School in many different guises for upwards of thirty years since my elder son came to school as an eleven year old to what was then the Gorleston Grammar School. I have been a governor for more than half that period and have had the privilege of leading the Governing Body as Chairperson for the past fifteen years.
You might ask what do the Governors of the School do. In short, school Governors are ultimately responsible for the running of the School and to achieve this, they must appoint qualified staff to ensure that a high quality of education and achievement is maintained.
Other Governor responsibilities include engaging with the Senior Management to:
- Plan the School’s long term future
- Set the School’s values and aims
- Set and monitor the budget and ensure that both staff and pupils are able to work and study in a safe and happy environment.
At Lynn Grove High School we have a very active Governing Body made up from a wide selection of dedicated people from all walks of life who give their time freely and voluntarily to ensure that the School receives all the help we can offer in order to reach its goals. We make collective decisions about planning school improvement and development and are answerable to the parents/carers, local community and the government.
If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of the Governing Body on the School number. |
